A Time Honored Tradition

Joey Purmort is a stone-worker located in the foothills area of Evergreen, Colorado. He is inspired by the traditional method of stonewalling used in Ireland and Scotland. This method was brought to America and Evergreen in the 1800s and has been used in such landmarks as the Grayestone Mansion and Hiwan Homestead. Each wall built using this traditional technique is a unique piece of work and will stand for generations to come. That’s a guarantee or your money back. Using native stone allows your wall to become a part of the ecosystem and merge into the surrounding landscape seamlessly. The wall will age with elegance and permanence.

Our specialty is the “dry stack” method for building walls. This method is an eco-friendly option as it only uses rock and earth. Dry stack stonewalls enrich the ecology of the area by promoting healthy drainage for vegetation above the wall and elasticity for the inevitable freeze/thaw cycle of the seasons. Dry stack walls can be re-built 100 years down the road if the wall does eventually fail. The absence of mortar on the stone makes the wall re-buildable and the stones re-usable for future generations. The dry stack method is durable, beautiful, and has zero carbon footprint.
